Security: Kano gets more mobile policemen
THE acting Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, has said in order to address the menace of Boko Haram sect, particularly in Kano, 10 units of mobile policemen have been deployed to fortify security, just as police helicopters mounted aerial surveillance to check the activities of criminals.
Abubakar, who made the disclosure in Kano, on Thursday, shortly after his visit to the state governor, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, at the Government House, added that more stop and search checkpoints had been introduced to fortify the city.
“I am sure you have the helicopters hovering around, it’s all part of the security arrangement which is on a permanent basis. We are also exploring the possibility of deploying more police officers to Kano State, to secure lives and properties,” he said.
The acting IG reiterated his resolve to fight corruption in its totality, stressing that “those who know me know that I mean what I am saying.”
According to him, police officers from the ranks of deputy inspectors-general would be posted in accordance with their capability and competence, so as to handle the challenging security situation.
